PORCELAIN VS GRANITE COUNTERTOP

Granite and porcelain have so many things in common but there are also noticeable differences between the two materials. Overall, there are several things to admire and gripe around from these minerals.

In terms of hardness, porcelain slabs are not that far from granite because of its material composition and process of making it. Both minerals display good resistance against chips, cracks, and dents. However, porcelain slabs show imminent weakness with ceramic knives.

In line with that, repairing chips and cracks from porcelain slabs is possible but appearance after is still noticeable.

In terms of heat resistance, both minerals can tolerate hot pans without forming dark burnt spots on its surface.

In terms of designs and colors, porcelain slabs offer more variety compared to granite.
This happens because color pigmentation and design can be customized in the second to the last part before glazing it at high temperature.

In terms of material and installation cost, porcelain slabs offer a more affordable price than granite countertops.

In terms of re-sealing process, both minerals can undergo the process but granite requires it more than porcelain. Moreover, both materials require low cleaning process.
