HOW TO CLEAN A PORCELAIN COUNTERTOP

Porcelain countertops are very resistant. It is an excellent material for this type of surface due to its performance, characteristics and the little maintenance it requires. It is the ideal material for a kitchen. A room with a lot of movement and that gets dirty continuously, neither more nor less because it is the place where you cook. Food is served in it, it gets stained with splashes, acids, food, liquids... And what we want is to clean as little as possible and in the easiest way.

Well, here porcelain is king. In the first place, because due to its almost zero porosity, it does not absorb stains. In addition, thanks to its large-format feature, many of the pieces can be installed without joints or with semi-invisible joints that do not accumulate dirt and are easier to clean.

Daily cleaning

For daily cleaning of a porcelain countertop, it will suffice to pass a damp cloth with soap and water or common detergent. Easy, right?
Although it is recommended not to use abrasive products or hard scouring pads, porcelain tile is characterized by its high degree of resistance to abrasion and scratching, so you should not worry about this aspect. You can use degreasers such as KH7, or spray with a multipurpose. Remove the product with a damp cloth and dry with kitchen paper for a perfect finish.

Cleaning stains caused by food, liquids, acids.

It is advisable to clean the stain as soon as possible and not let it dry to facilitate its removal. But let's be honest, it is very common for us to leave a stain and not clean it right away. With porcelain there is no problem, the stain will not penetrate due to its low porosity.

To remove an embedded stain more easily, moisten the area with hot water and let the dirt soften a little. Remove with a clean, dry cloth.

Cleaning according to the type of stains

If we find ourselves with lime stains, very common in some areas of Spain due to the high water content, use vinegar or a specific cleaner for lime, such as Viakal. Let it act for a couple of minutes and remove with water.

For wine, oil, coffee or lemon stains, which are so worrying when talking about kitchen countertops, simply apply a common or dishwashing detergent and you'll be done with them.

For rust stains you can also use specific cleaning products for lime and your countertop will be as good as new.

Ink or blood stains are removed by applying a little bleach or solvent diluted in water. Gently rub with a scourer and remove the excess with a damp cloth. Dry for a spectacular finish.
